IMARS

This BLOG is for the information of the Indian Mound Amateur Radio Society. There are no dues. We often talk about everything under the sun, not just Ham Radio. A lot of our members are pilots, many are veterans, some have no amateur radio license and we are interested in anything and everything. COME JOIN US. Coffee and donuts at 9 am. Contact Bernie Rutan KJ4QML (386) 668-4099 or Jerry Hale KØJH (386) 532-6224 eMail: IndianMoundAmateurRaioSociety@gmail.com www.imarsvolusia.com

IMARS

Indian Mound Amateur Radio Society
History of IMARS by N4ZZO (edited for space) The club started in 1988/1989. At first it was an informal meeting of several HAMS at a McDonalds on Deltona Blvd then moved to another Mcdonald's at Four Towns. Jerry Miller WD4OHM, a fireman, got permission to meet at the new firehouse at Stone Island where we met for 16 years. The "membership" list reached 75 but father time has reduced us to 10 to 15 today. Around the 1995 through a contest, the design for the IMARS logo won by N4ZZO. Leo W8CIJ was the first volunteer moderator. Leo kept the position for 9 ½ years. Bill N4ZZO for the next 3+ years then Hank N4TJO took the job for 2 years and then Joel N9LQ took the helm and passed it to Jerry KØJH for a while. Other volunteers have been Bud NØIA, Don KJ4FKT, then Bernie KJ4QML who has it now (2014). When we lost the fire house meeting room Bud NØIA, & Bill N4ZZO inquired for permission to meet at DeBary EOC. Through Alan Williamson, KI4ZSK one of our newest members, who is now in charge of Public Works for DeBary permission was readily given and now we meet on the 2nd floor of the old DeBary City Hall on Colombo Road next to the fire station.
